Referral help

Damaris referrals enable us to thank you for recommending Damaris resources to your friends.

The referral opportunity page gives details of the current referral opportunities and provides you with a Unique Referral URL (a web page address) that will allow our system to count how many "hits" the website gets from people you have referred. To benefit from the referral system, you simply need to give this Unique Referral URL to your friends and ask them to click on it.

To refer your friends

  1. To see your Unique Referral URL you need to be logged in:
    • If you are not logged in, simply click on the "Login" link and enter your Damaris username and password
    • If you have forgotten your password, click on the "forgotten password?" link and you will be able to set up a new one
    • If you do not have a Damaris username, simply click on the "Login" link and then fill in the boxes under "Register" on the right-hand side of the screen to create a username (for free)
  2. Once you are logged in, you will see a box saying "Your Unique Referral URL"
  3. To tell your friends about this Damaris resource, you can simply email this Unique Referral URL link to them
  4. If you are on Facebook it is even easier! Just click on the Facebook link and you will be able to send the link automatically (plus any message you want to add) to your friends - and post it on your profile. 
  5. Clicking on "Show details" opens up more ways to tell your friends:
    • The box under "Textual HTML Code" provides HTML code you can put on your webpage to create a text link using your Unique Referral URL
    • The box under "Banner HTML Code" provides HTML code that can be put on your webpage to create the image (shown), which links using your Unique Referral URL
  6. Whenever someone click on your Unique Referral URL, the system will count this as a click for your referral (see the box below for important information about how clicks are counted)

To see how many clicks your referrals have got

  1. Simply log in to any Damaris page 
  2. Under the My Membership area (accessible on any Damaris page near the top left of screen), choose the My Referrals option from the list
  3. This will show you how many clicks you have got for each referral opportunity which is currently active
  4. Note that ONLY active referral opportunities will be listed here (all referral opportunities are for a limited time only)

IMPORTANT

To be fair to everyone we have set the system to only count unique clicks from different computers (actually unique IP addresses so, in some circumstances, computers linked together count as the same computer). This means that if you click on the same referral link multiple times using the same computer, it will only be counted once (even if different people did the different clicks). We think that is the fairest to everyone - in order to avoid people cheating by clicking multiple times on their own Unique Referral URL.
